The college earned
this honor for the 17th
consecutive year and
was also named a
College of Distinction.
In the spring of 2006, Mount Union started a $3 million
renovation of its Hoover Price Campus Center and the
College's newly-remodeled dining center celebrated its
opening just in time for incoming students to arrive on
campus for the 2006 Fall Semester.
In August of 2006, a record number of more than 700
students enrolled at Mount Union for the year.
The Mount Union College Department of Education was
awarded a grant by the Ohio Department of Education to begin
offering intervention specialist licenses for early childhood and
mild/moderate teachers in an effort to provide area school
districts with trained educators. This one-year grant has given
the College the status of a Charter College of Education.
Mount Union, working in partnership with the Alliance
City Schools, Interfaith Child Development Center, the
First Baptist Church Nursery School and Child Care Center
developed an organization called Early Childhood Education
Alliance, Inc. (ECEA, Inc.) which is a 501c3 organization
which will serve as the umbrella organization guiding further
study, development and implementation of programs for
young children of Alliance and their families.
The Purple Raiders football team captured its ninth NCAA
Division III national championship in 2006 by defeating UWServing
the Area for over 10 years

1993, 1996-98, 2000-02 and 2005.
