ANIMALS

All dogs must be licensed. Stark County licenses, most of which are renewed annually, can be purchased at the Mount Union Mill, 120 W. Chestnut St., (330) 823-5162. Licenses are also available at the Stark County auditor's office, 200 Tuscarawas St. W., Canton, (330) 451-7357 or online at www.auditor.co.stark.oh.us.
Calls concerning stray dogs should be directed to the Stark County Dog Warden, (330) 451-2343.

AUTOMOBILES

License plates and driver's licenses are available at the Alliance License Agency, 513 E. Main St., (330) 821-4866.
Motor vehicle and boat titles are available at the Stark County clerk's office in Canton and at the City Hall Annex, 513 E. Main St., call (330) 823-7072.
BICYCLES
Bicycles ridden on public streets must be licensed and registered. Licenses are available at the Alliance Police Department, 472 E. Market St., (330) 823-5324.

CEMETERIES

The city owns and maintains Alliance City Cemetery, 541 W. Vine St. For more information, call (330) 829-2239.

CITY EMPLOYMENT

CURFEW
No minor age 15 years or under is permitted on streets or public grounds after 9:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. unless accompanied by a parent, guardian or a person over 21 years of age.
No minor age 16 or 17 years is permitted on streets or public grounds after 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. unless accompanied by a parent, guardian or a person over 21 years of age.

EMERGENCIES

Emergency announcements are aired over radio stations WDPN 1310 AM and WDJQ 92.5 FM.

GARAGE SALES

Signs announcing garage sales are not permitted on utility poles or on a public right-of-way.

INCOME TAX

Alliance has a 2.00 percent income tax. The income Tax Office is located at 504 E. Main St. and can be reached at (330) 821-9190.

JAIL

All prisoners are taken to the Stark County jail facility.

LAWNS

Residents are responsible for maintaining their lawns and the strip between the sidewalk and the street.

MOPEDS

Motorized bicycles must display license plates, which are available through the Alliance License Agency, 513 E. Main St., (330) 821-4866.

OPEN BURNING

For permits, call the city fire inspector at (330) 821-1213.

PARADES

Any group wishing to hold a parade must obtain a permit from the safety-service director, 504 E. Main St., (330) 821-3110. A written request for a permit must be filed at least five days before the event.

PARKING

Parking an inoperative or unlicensed vehicle on private property is prohibited. To report offenses, call Code Enforcement at (330) 823-5122. Tickets are payable at the Police Department, 470 E. Market St.

SALES TAX

Sales-tax rate in Stark County is 6.5 percent.

SIDEWALKS

Property owners are responsible for installing and maintaining sidewalks.

SNOW REMOVAL

Residents are responsible for cleaning snow from sidewalks in front of their property. Parking bans are broadcast over WDPN 1310 AM, and WDJQ 92.5 FM.

SOLICITORS

For-profit and non-profit groups and individuals must obtain a permit from the mayor's office, 504 E. Main St., at least 10 days in advance of the sale. The permit costs $100. For more information, call (330) 821-3110.

STREETS

For information about streets, alleys and driveways, call the street department at (330) 823-3133 or the safety-service director at (330) 821-3110. The street department is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

TRASH COLLECTION

For information concerning rates and services, contact the Health Department at (330) 821-7373 or the safety-service director at (330) 821-3110.

TREES

Property owners are responsible for trimming trees so branches do not block pedestrian paths or light from streetlights and signs. Permits are required to plant a tree on the curb lawn. For more information, call the safety-service director at (330) 821-3110.

ZONING/SIGNS

The Building Standards office, the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Planning Commission administer planning and zoning codes. Questions should be directed to the Building Standards office, 504 E. Main St., (330) 823-5122.
