ALLIANCE FIRE DEPARTMENT For more than 100 years, the Alliance Fire Department has provided fire protection for Alliance's 23,253 residents. The department averages nearly 600 calls a year with activity in the following areas: fire uppression, auto extrication, rescue service and hazardous material response. In addition to emergency scene operations, the Alliance Fire Department has a complete fire inspection program and an active fire prevention program. The Fire Prevention Bureau does fire and arson investigations, building plan reviews, fire code enforcement and a juvenile fire starters deterrent program. The department has an ISO Class 4 rating. The department is full time with 33 career state-certified firefighters and one civilian support personnel. Three shifts of seven to nine firefighters cover the city at all times with the ability to page more off-duty firefighters as emergencies warrant. The vehicle fleet consists of two class A pumpers, one 105-foot tower-ladder truck, a 75-foot Quint, a rescue truck and a number of utility vehicles. The department operates out of and maintains two fire stations. Tours are available to groups at the main station. ALLIANCE POLICE DEPARTMENT The Alliance Police Department is a professional full-service agency operating out of a newly constructed police facility located at 470 E Market St. The force consists of 42 full-time, five part-time and two auxiliary sworn officers; nine full-time and one part-time dispatcher; and four civilian records/secretarial staff. A full service, state of the art, multi-jurisdictional dispatch center handles all incoming requests for police service. The department oversees the school crossing guard program and the 17-member Alliance Police Reserve unit and the 11 member police explorer unit. It is internationally recognized for its commitment to area youth through the successful "Kick Drugs Out of Alliance" (KDOA) program.
