Rodman Public Library

For the next twelve months, visitors to Rodman Library will be wearing hard hats. Library renovation is scheduled to begin this Fall and will take about one year to complete. Included in the renovation will be a new children's program room and an elevator for public use.
The addition of the elevator will make the Library completely accessible to patrons with disabilities. Once inside the Library, the patron will find other services to assist with reading and research. A computer station featuring a large print screen and the ability to read a sheet of paper which is scanned, can open the door to cyberspace to those with sight or hearing disability. The unit was given by the Friends of Rodman Library. At the Carnation Mall Branch a similar unit was given by the Alliance Quota Club in memory of Helen Hartzell.
Collections of books on tape and in large print format appeal to all patrons, but give patrons with sight problems an opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of reading. Thanks to gifts from the Alliance Lions Club, the large print collection contains over 4,500 titles. For those who are legally blind, the Library can provide a link to the books on tape service at the Cleveland Regional Library for the Blind. This service provides a special tape player and tapes which include books and magazines.
For those who cannot visit the Library, the Homebound Service from the Bookmobile Department will bring reading and listening materials to the home. Contact the Bookmobile Department at 330-821-2665 for more information.
