Alliance Community Hospital
Experienced health care is not just a slogan at Alliance Community Hospital, but a way of life. The new state-of-the-art facility set to open in January 2006, consisting of a 250,000 square-foot hospital, 50,000 square-foot Community Care Center and 51,000 square-foot professional office building, will provide quality health care to the Alliance community and surrounding areas. The hospital's professional office building, which opened its doors last March, currently houses a number of offices including eight physician groups, Outpatient Physical Therapy, Center for Digestive Health, Center for Pain Management and Outpatient Dialysis suites. The type of environment was a major focus when building the facility. To coincide with the Planetree philosophy, the hospital was designed to resemble a hotel where emphasis is placed on the best of customer service. "Patients will be greeted by an information center in the lobby," said Bob Kroupa, director of campus planning at Alliance Community Hospital. "The atmosphere is set up to relax people when they come into the hospital." According to Lori DiPanfilo, Transition and Equipment Coordinator at Alliance Community Hospital, the hospital is also working with a consultant on the artwork for the new buildings. "The artwork will incorporate particular geographic areas that appeal to different populations and that are soothing and healing to the patient," said DiPanfilo. A rooftop garden, labyrinth, garden retreats, aviaries and fish tanks are also special features to bring a part of nature to patients and families. "It gives patients and visitors a chance to stop, think and reflect," said Kroupa. Patient comfort was a key factor when making decisions about the new facility. DiPanfilo said almost all of the 102 patient beds will be in private rooms and will include sleeper sofas to accommodate family members staying with a loved one. There will also be satellite television and music channels available. In addition, extended cafeteria hours, inviting comfort areas, a health-caring resource library that can be used 24 hours a day and an interdenominational chapel will be available to meet the needs of both patients, families and visitors. The hospital is not only making advancements externally, but internally as well. Kroupa said the new facility will have a therapy transition area that gives rehabilitation patients the opportunity to practice exercises that reflect real-life situations, such as grocery shopping and getting in and out of a car, to provide a home-like environment. There will also be a therapy garden and pathway that will reflect a park-like setting with elements such as a lawn pond and putting green that will be open to all residents. The combination of optimal technology and a home-like atmosphere makes Alliance Community Hospital one of the premier health care facilities in the area. Once completed, it will be "the best of hotels, the best of spas and the best of hospitals" where patients experience health caring.
