The Village of Beloit

A small town bursting with rich history and boundless opportunities, the Village of Beloit was chartered May 21, 1863. Located on the Pittsburgh, Ft. Wayne and Chicago railroad, the village was formerly known as Smithfield Station. However, due to another village of that name, a contest was held and the town renamed by a citizen that had a cousin that lived in Beloit, Wisconsin
Located in Mahoning County, Beloit has a population of 1,024 and is home to West Branch Local School System. The new middle school, elementary school and high school share the site on South Main Street with new elementary schools being built in Damascus and Knox Township.
Beloit is centrally located, just a short drive to Alliance or Salem, Canton or Boardman.
The Beloit Area Historical Society was established in 2004 with their meeting place at the Tin Shop, one of the many historical buildings in the village.
Beloit Volunteer Fire Department and EMS squads service portions of Mahoning, Stark, Columbiana and Portage counties in addition to Beloit.
The village council works hard for the citizens, and sidewalks in the village should be completed by the spring of 2006.
Known for its excellent school system and low crime rate, Beloit is a prime location to raise a family.
